Please email us to start the process of reserving a space in McDougall United Church for your special event or ceremony.

Main Sanctuary / Church

McDougall United is an historic church, built in 1910.

The following basic guidelines apply to the use of the sanctuary / main church space. Details are available upon inquiry and booking.

Main Front Entrance - for Concerts & Events

The public entrance of the church for concerts and events is at 10025 – 101 Street in downtown Edmonton.

Accessibility
  • A ramp entrance is located at 10086 Macdonald Drive (south side of church).
  • An elevator will take you to all four levels of the church.
  • At the moment, we regret washrooms are not fitted for handicap accessibility.
Seating & Capacity

Sanctuary – seats 1,000 people, which includes the main floor and balcony of the church.

Banquet Hall – 159 people.

Norwood Meeting Room – 60 people

Banner Meeting Room – 60 people

Technical

We are equipped with power point capability in the sanctuary. Microphones and sound are available.

Lighting and Sound

Additional lighting and sound may be brought in for an event, but it is the responsibility of the user to order the equipment, arrange for delivery and return at their expense.

Instruments

We have a Bösendorfer grand piano and an electronic organ which may be used. Tuning of the piano is the responsibility and expense of the user. Additional instruments may be negotiated and brought in by the user at their own cost.

Chancel/Platform

We are able to remove the pulpit from this platform area. The piano and organ can be moved aside but not removed from the platform.

Choir Area

The choir area can reasonably accommodate 50-75 people maximum, standing on multi levels; fewer if seating is required.

Set-Up and Take-Down

Setting up of an event is the responsibility of the user, as well as the take down. The custodian will supervise and is able to assist in most instances and within reason.

Availability

As a rule, the sanctuary is available most days or evenings of the week, EXCEPT Sunday morning and until 1:00 p.m. for the church service and congregational use. There are also resident choirs who have pre-booked the space for rehearsal during the week.

Cost

The cost for facility use is determined by the Rental Committee. Rates vary depending on the nature of the event, non-profit status, size of event, and whether or not tickets will be sold.

Other Spaces

Other areas of the church are available for meetings, rehearsals, pre-concert assembly, concert receptions and community use. Kitchen facilities are available.

We have the capacity to accommodate large musical events or groups of people.

Availability and costs for space, in addition to the main sanctuary/church, apply and should be requested when inquiring or booking.
