CHURCH FACILITY USE
McDougall United Church is one of the most popular concert venues in the City throughout the year. We are host to dozens of concerts, choirs, musicians and artists, music competitions and special public events, both local, national and international.
The following basic guidelines apply to the use of the sanctuary / main church space. Details are available upon inquiry and booking.
McDougall United Church is an historic church built in 1910.
Main Front Entrance
The main entrance of the church is at 10025 - 101 Street.
- A ramp entrance is located at 10086 Macdonald Drive (south side of church).
- An elevator will take you to all four levels of the church.
- At the moment, we regret washrooms are not fitted for handicap accessibility.
We are able to seat 1,000 people, which includes the main floor and balcony of the church.
We are equipped with power point capability in the sanctuary. Microphones and sound are available.
Lighting and Sound
Additional lighting and sound may be brought in for an event, but it is the responsibility of the user to order the equipment, arrange for delivery and return at their expense.
We have a Bösendorfer grand piano and an electronic organ which may be used. Tuning of the piano is the responsibility and expense of the user. Additional instruments may be negotiated and brought in by the user at their own cost.
We are able to remove the pulpit from this platform area. The piano and organ can be moved aside but not removed from the platform.
The choir area can reasonably accommodate 50-75 people maximum, standing on multi levels. Fewer if seating is required.
Set-Up and Take-Down
Setting up of an event is the responsibility of the user, as well as the take down. The custodian will supervise and is able to assist in most instances and within reason.
As a rule, the sanctuary is available most days or evenings of the week, EXCEPT Sunday morning and until 1:00 p.m. for the church service and congregational use.
There are also resident choirs who use the space during the week, which are pre-booked.
The cost for facility use is determined by the Rental Committee. Rates vary depending on the nature of the event, size of event, and ticket sales.
OTHER AREAS OF THE CHURCH
Other areas of the church are available for rehearsals, pre-concert assembly, concert receptions and community use. Kitchen facilities are available.
We have the capacity to accommodate large musical evevnts or groups of people.
Availability and costs for space, in addition to the main sanctuary/church, apply and should be requested when inquiring or booking.
